Orthodontia in Greek means “straight, proper teeth”.

Orthodontists of our clinic, using special apparatus, straighten the disorder of bite, teeth line and teeth irregularity. Before installing orthodontic devices it is necessary to treat the whole mouth cavity.

The first stage of teeth straightening is installing of braces. Braces can be metal and ceramic, golden or sapphire. In every concrete case orthodontic device is chosen individually.

The final stage of treatment is keeping the outcome using special device and regular visits to dentist – this is the inevitable condition for successful treatment.

The most numerous patients of orthodontia are young people. The process of becoming a beautiful swan after being an ugly duckling is especially seen, making happy patients and orthodontists, too.

Modern orthodontia is able to correct occlusion at any age. Of course it is better to perform the correction procedures as early as possible; this way the diagnosis can be made confidently. Though, while correcting the child’s occlusion we should foresee the characteristics of child’s age.

For example, most of the children can not brush their teeth properly. In this case in order to prevent deposit piling around the braces, you should periodically visit your orthodontist.

In some cases, when the formed enamel is still weak, doctor may delay the procedure.

There are two kinds of braces: vestibular and lingual. First ones are installed on the outer side of teeth, the second – on the inner. Patients frequently choose vestibular braces, because they are cheaper and are easy to adapt to. Adaptation to lingual system may take some weeks and it will be needed to learn how to pronounce some hissing sounds again.

Every brace-system is installed to special glue containing fluorine, so you do not have to be afraid of caries formation under that place; it is just another myth about dentistry. And there are good news for those who wish to lose some kg: while wearing braces it is possible to lose weight as long as biting is not recommended.

Non-removable braces

Brace-system is the non-removable devise and can correct any kind of teeth disorder. The system bases are braces – small metal (or ceramic) plates, stuck to teeth. Every single tooth has its own brace. Brace-system contains the supporting platform, slot in the middle and two wings on the sides of the slot.

The meaning of braces is that in every slot is put special arc made of nickel plus titan. This kind of arc has a wide memory – no matter how you try to reshape it, it always gets back to its initial shape. This way without permanent tightening and bending, this arc will itself put teeth into proper line.

Usually braces are used until every milk tooth is altered with permanent one, though they can be installed at any, elder age.

No matter how complicated teeth line deformation is, brace-system can be taken off in 1,5 year. This means that average deformation can be corrected 2-3 times faster.

Occlusion correction

In our society it is still believed that occlusion can be corrected only at early age and only using ugly plates.

But now everything changed to superiority. Refined braces came out instead of ugly plates. Occlusion correction with braces now became very popular at any age.

Actuality

For many people anomalous occlusion and uneven teeth were the main reason for inferiority complex. Statistically 90% of people have uneven teeth and in 39% cases they need special orthodontal help.

Anomalous occlusion treatment is not only aesthetic procedure; this is the prophylaxis of dental diseases’ formation.

Formation of uneven teeth and occlusion

Very important is the tooth cutting time; tooth cutting dates might be delayed due to many reasons, like the lack of such vitally important minerals as calcium and fluorine.

Children which have bad habits, very frequently have uneven teeth line and anomalous occlusion. Parents sometimes do not pay attention to their child sucking the finger, though it might cause the occlusion.

Bad habits are also: sucking dummies for a long time, lip biting. In these cases teeth can move on the size of the thing bite by child and go uneven.

If children have problems with breathing with nose, they permanently have to breathe with mouth. Prolonged breathing with mouth can cause abnormality of facial skull growth and formation of anomalous occlusion of so called “adenoid” kind.

Sometimes, disorder of jaw formation might be inherited from parents.

One of the main reasons of uneven teeth is the nutrition kind of modern person. Eating soft food permanently does not give our manducatory bones enough loading and they can’t develop properly.

All kinds of dental anomalies can be corrected by dentists, independently or with help of surgeons if it is needed to correct wider structures like facial bones and jaws.

Indicated age

Orthodontal treatment can be performed at any age. Everything depends on left amount of teeth and condition of parodontal tissues.

If occlusion is not corrected at the time, jaw-facial anomaly and deformation can provoke lots of diseases like gastrointestinal tract and breathing ways inflammation.

Despite of this, problems can occur in jaw-teeth system: lower jaw diseases, pain, clicking while eating and talking, parodontal diseases, the risk of caries formation increases and this entire can cause tooth losing.

Occlusion correction is not easy and fast process!

Earlier it was believed that occlusion can only be corrected at childhood or young ages. Modern dentistry owns constructions which can correct occlusion even in adults. Corrections of occlusion is quite prolonged process, but believe us, it is all worth it!

In children (9-10 years) correction of occlusion is performed using special removable devices (plates, functional apparatus, and trainer) and in adults correction is performed with modern method of dental treatment – braces. Using brace-system made it possible to correct teeth condition in millimeters accuracy and have great cosmetic and prophylaxis effect.

Possibility of teeth movement

It is thought that tooth is joined into jaw bone. It is not true. Tooth root is attached to alveolar socket with tissue fibber. These elastic fibbers are located in narrow cleft between bone wall and tooth root. Teeth movement is performed with orthodontal devices controlled by dentist.

Under prolonged but small pressure tooth moves to the other side, on the opposite side fibbers stretch and new bone is formed which does not give the tooth possibility to move back in its initial place.
